The Spanish language, though in various dialects, is spoken across the country and throughout the world. Thus, a deep understanding of this language and the cultures from which it originates is a vital part of a global perspective, and is of value in a wide range of professions.

What can I do with this degree? (Our Graduates): 

The Spanish language and culture major offers graduates tools that can be used in almost any profession, in this country or beyond. The widespread influence of Spanish demands professionals in all fields—marketing, educations, community leadership, ministry and much, much more!

Degrees & Emphases - What are the options with this major?: 

Students choose from two emphases:

For students whose primary language is Spanish, or students who have studied in Spanish in any school of Latin America or Spain and who speak the Spanish language fluently, there is the possibility of designing a personalized major or minor by conferring with the program director.

Students who are interested in teaching Spanish language in secondary schools can meet the competency requirement by passing the CSET exam in Spanish. Information regarding these exams is available in the School of Education. Currently the university does not offer a subject matter major in Spanish.
