Requirements for incoming students

Incoming freshmen :

• 3.1 high school GPA
• 19 ACT or 900 SAT (math and critical reading only)
• Courses required with a grade of C or better
  • 4 years of college prep English
  • 3 years of college prop math
  • 2 years of social studies
  • 1 year of laboratory science
  • 2 years of the same foreign language
  • 1 year of visual or performing art

Transfer students:

• 24 or more transferable units (students with less than 24 units will be admitted based on freshman requirements)
• 2.4 college GPA

Re-entry students:

• Those who have been out of high school or college for five or more years can be admitted if they meet either of the above requirements.

International students:

• Students whose native language is not English, and who submit a TOEFL score of 500 with minimum section scores of 50 in each skill area, are eligible for the regular undergraduate curriculum upon admission.
• Students with intermediate level English ability will be permitted to take one or two academic courses with the approval of the IELP (Intensive English Learning Program) director. Students may earn up to 16 units of credit in their IELP courses and apply them as electives to the BA degree. Visit our website.

What if I don't meet the requirements?

Applicants who do not meet these academic standards may be considered by the Admissions Selection Committee for an exception. Additional documentation is required. Please speak with the Undergraduate Admissions Office for details.

2. Take the SAT or ACT if transferring under 24 units.

4. Complete the FAFSA in order to be eligible for government and institutional aid.

• The FAFSA can be completed between Jan. 1 – March 2
