Cultural Activities

A variety of cultural experiences are available to students both on campus and around Fresno.

At FPU

  • Building a Culture of Peace Week
This week-long celebration during October is designed to help students, faculty and staff make a personal commitment to peace in our world. Events include a campus-wide international/intercultural festival, special college hour discussions, guest lecturers, a performance hour, prayer services and service projects. Community groups also come on campus to share their cultural heritage and to enjoy the celebration.
  • CAKE (Cultural Awareness and Knowledge Enrichment)
Valuing intense dialogue between cultures, this on-campus leadership network encourages exploration and celebration of differences in cultures through meetings, activities, conferences and support of multi-cultural clubs on campus.
  • El Cafecito
Each month El Cafecito offers students a Spanish worship experience on campus. All of the music is led by Voz (FPU's Spanish worship team), and a leader from the community speaks.
  • Ethnic Stoles
To celebrate ethnic diversity and overcoming barriers, many students purchase ethnic stoles to wear during their graduation ceremony. Several different styles are available and may be ordered through a student's multi-cultural club or the Office of Spiritual Formation.
  • International Club
The International Club meets monthly for social activities and excursions to learn about American culture all the while sharing and learning about the other countries, languages and cultures represented. The club focuses on the needs of international students but is open to all FPU students.
  • Missions
Opportunities for global missions offer students experiences like no other. From FPU's own spring break mission to short-term summer missions through outside organizations, students learn to serve Christ cross-culturally.
  • Multi-Cultural Clubs
A variety of multi-cultural clubs on campus offer students the opportunity to build relationships with other students with similar interests. These clubs include: Amigos Unidos, Asian Flavor, Ayani, Russian Club and Samaritan Scholars.
  • Multi-Cultural Ministries
Reaching out and serving others as well as celebrating and embracing diversity allows students to build relationships and foster understanding between cultures. Many local ministries engage students with our community, meeting a need as they share Christ and live out their faith.
  • Parade of Flags
Each year during the annual FPU community Thanksgiving dinner, international students carry their country's flag in a parade of flags to high-light diversity on our campus.
